Give bowls a try

Why not come along and try indoor bowls which is a sport that can be played all year round in all weathers? New players of all ages and abilities are welcome to come and try bowling with coaching available for novice bowlers most Sunday afternoons during the season. Please contact us for details and to arrange a session.

Junior bowling

IOMIBA have junior coaches and welcome juniors from the age of 7 to coaching sessions culminating in their own championship competition at the end of season. Contact jun@iomindoorbowling.org or call 499174.

Bowling season

The Indoor Bowling season runs from October to March inclusive, and league matches take place nightly (Monday to Friday) from 6.30 pm, with a Friday afternoon pairs league at 2 pm, and a Tuesday morning team league starting at 10.00 am.

League players must be IOMIBA Members.

Round robins

The club holds friendly Round-Robins most Saturdays during the season at 1.30 pm which are open to all, though a knowledge of the basics of the game is required. Please arrive by 1.15 pm to sign up.

What you need

Bowlers wear comfortable clothing in which they can move easily – normally trousers or jeans  with polo or T-shirts, though an extra layer is sometimes required (jumper, sweatshirt). However, to protect the playing surface, only flat shoes without ridges are permitted. Suitable shoes and a limited selection of bowls are available to hire from the NSC.

Lockers

The lockers in the Bowls Hall belong to IOMIBA and may be rented by members on an annual basis – see Membership Forms above for details.
