WIBC World Championships
This years Championships will take place at Auchinleck Indoor Bowling Club, Well Road, Auchinleck, Ayrshire on Tuesday 20th to Friday 23rd April, 2010. There will be competitors from: Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey and the Netherlands. The World Bowls Tour will also be represented by David Gourley and Carol Ashby.
The Isle of Man's representatives will be Edward and Mary Alderson who will represent the Island in the Gent's and Ladies Singles and the Mixed Pairs.
Edward and Mary start the tournament on Tuesday at 10.00 am with the Mixed Pairs against M O' Riordan & S Gordon (Eng). In a packed program they both have singles matches at 13.40 pm, Mary playing Kerry Packwood (Wales), while Edward faces Graham Smith (England). Another match in the Mixed Pairs at 18.45 against Wales rounds off a hectic first day.
On Wednesday Edward opens with a match against Ireland's Andrew Kyle, while Mary faces Muriel Wilkinson (Ireland), both matches at 11.30 am. Mary has a further match at 14.50 pm against Liz Tunn (England), while Edward kicks off at 16.30 pm against Ross Davies of Jersey. The second day finishes for Mary and Edward with a Mixed Pairs against Wales at 18.30 pm.
The final stages of the championship take place on Thursday and Friday and we wish Mary and Edward the best of luck and hope to hear of their achievemnts in the competition.
