Target Mat Challenge

In order to raise funds for the Inter Island Bowls Tournament, hosted in the Isle Of Man in 2011 we are issuing a challenge to all players!

For the miserly fee of £1 you are all invited to take the "Target Mat Challenge!"

The club has obtained a target mat which has concentric circles with different values, the bull has a value of 10 while the outer ring has a value of 1.

For £1 you can have 2 ends of 4 bowls and attempt to beat the highest recorded score. You can have as many attempts as you like and we will run the challenge until the end of the season when a £20 prize will be awarded along with the highly prestigious title of "Target Mat Champion" . The more £1 attempts you have then the more funds we will raise.

We will update this page regularly with the top five scores and indicate a running total of the funds we have raised. We will put the same information on the notice board.

Rules

The centre of the target should be placed on the "T" with the 2 outside corners in line with the "re-spots". The front of the mat at the other end should be also on the "T". Your 2 ends should be played in the same direction. Ideally 2 players should take the challenge at the same time with the first bowl alternating in each end and players delivering each bowl alternately. You may knock your opponents bowls out.

Points shall be scored for all bowls part of which covers the diamond. A bowl, part of which covers a high scoring ring and part of which covers a low scoring ring shall score points for the higher ring.

Put the date, score and your name on the sheet on the notice board along with the name of a verifier, your opponent will do. Finally give your multiple £1's to any member of the committee. Good luck! and check back regularly for updates.
