Island Championships, Format & Rules 2012 (Final Version):

  1. The rules of the WIBC will apply except where variations are set out below.
  2. All matches will be played over 14 ends.
  3. Opponents will toss for the jack at the start of the match.
  4. In the event of a draw, one extra end shall be played and a separate toss for the jack shall take place.
  5. Winners of the toss may not give away the jack.
  6. All players must be in attendance at the scheduled commencement time of their match or will forfeit the game.
  7. A draw for rinks will be made prior to the commencement of each session.
  8. In Singles competitions each player is allowed a maximum of one visit to the head per end throughout the match.
  9. In Pairs and Triples competitions each team is allowed a maximum of one visit to the head per end throughout the match.
  10.  Any breach of Rules 8 and 9 shall be referred to the “Umpire” immediately who may issue a warning or upon repeated infringement may disqualify any competitor(s) from the Championships.
  11.  Competitors in both the Men’s and Ladies Singles tournaments should arrange with their opponent to provide their own marker. (All Members are encouraged to offer assistance in marking matches).
  12.  All results must be submitted to the Tournament Secretary/Member of the Committee at the end of each match.
  13.  All matches to be played at the time and date specified for the competition except where by mutual consent Rule 14 may apply.
  14.  Other than the finals any match may be played before the due date specified provided both teams agree and play shall not take precedent over other scheduled matches in the championships.
  15.  There shall be no use of substitutes and in the event that the named competitors are not available for whatever reason at the scheduled commencement of play they shall forfeit the match.
  16.  A Member of the Committee shall be appointed as “Umpire” for each session who may rule on any matter relating to the Championships and whose decision will be final.

Island Championships January 2012: The event will consist of Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Triples and Pairs.  The Championships will be held throughout January 2012 commencing on Monday 9th and Finals Day will be Saturday 28th January 2012.  Please note: players must be available to play throughout January when entering the various events. All members wishing to enter the championships should complete the appropriate events entry lists now on display on the IOMIBA notice board at the bowls hall, NCS.

Closing Date for entries: Friday 16th December. The draw will be published shortly afterwards. For further details please telephone Clive (Fixtures Secretary) on 626148.

Urgent Notice: The NSC will be closing at 8pm each evening during the week commencing Monday 19th December 2011.
Team Captains: please note re-arrangements are needed to your scheduled matches.  The Pairs leagues fixtures may start at 5.30 or earlier if agreeable by both teams.  Other matches can be played in the New Year.  Rule 13 and 13A are not applicable in this instance. Please note that there is a “free” week with no planned fixtures prior to the start of championships which commence on 9th January 2012.

League Tables: The league tables have now been compiled and can be viewed in the "League Tables" menu above.

Fixture Lists: All fixtures for 2011/12 season can now be viewed from the "League Fixtures" menu.

Saturday Round Robins: Please note the start date for the Saturday Round Robins has changed to Saturday 22nd October.

Bowls Hall: The bowls hall is now open for use again after the completion of the Commonwealth Youth Games and the laying of the new carpet. The provisional start date for the league season is 17th October 2011 and the Saturday Round Robins will commence Saturday 22nd October.
